TGS Tra Vinh Green Hydrogen Company, a member of The Green Solutions Group (TGS) in 2023 started construction of Vietnam’s first and largest green hydrogen factory, with the total investment of VND8 trillion ($341 million).
A flagship initiative that aims to produce green hydrogen and ammonia as part of Vietnam’s clean energy transition with a commitment to contribute to the Vietnam’s national goal of achieving net-zero emissions by 2050.
Covering an area of 21 ha, the project in the Mekong Delta province of Tra Vinh’s Duyen Hai District is expected to become operational after two years, initially producing 24,000 tonnes of green hydrogen and 195,000 tonnes of oxygen a year. It would provide direct jobs for 300-500 local residents.
Tra Vinh Province’s People’s Committee Chairman Le Van Han hails the locality pof the project as optimum for investors and co-partners during the contruction and implementation period, creating favorable conditions for the project to be completed on schedule and put into operation soon. The investment in a green hydrogen factory project in the area helps the province realize its goal of sustainable economic growth, becoming one of the green energy centers in the Mekong Delta region and the whole country, Han said.
Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony, Nguyen Sinh Nhat Tan, deputy minister of Industry and Trade, said Vietnam is promoting the development of the chemical industry, which includes producing green hydrogen and green ammonia.
The production of green hydrogen from renewable energy has been oriented for development according to the Strategy for Development of Vietnam’s chemical industry to 2030, with a vision to 2040.
Hydrogen is a chemical widely used in the metallurgical industry, oil refining, semiconductor production, cosmetics and is also a basic raw material for the production of other chemicals serving many industries.
The company currently has nearly a dozen renewable energy projects nationwide.
This business is currently investing in dozens of other businesses operating in the field of renewable energy with a capital of up to trillions of VND. In addition to The Green Solutions, Ms. Huynh Thi Kim Quyen is also the legal representative of dozens of other renewable energy companies.
Some examples include Phong Dien Green Energy Joint Stock Company, Gio My Green Energy Joint Stock Company, Gia Lai Green Energy Joint Stock Company, and Smart Green Community Joint Stock Company.
Ms. Huynh Thi Kim Quyen, Winnie, is General Director and Founder of The Green Solutions Group.
Ms Huynh has deep expertise in business strategy, human resource management and organisational development, particularly in the renewable energy sector. Understanding the impact of climate change, she successfully researches and develops several renewable energy projects in Vietnam.
