To inspire climate action across the Australian football community, from the elite level to the grassroots.

Starting out as AFL Players for Climate Action in 2020, Tom and Jasper were concerned about climate change and questioned what they could do to make a difference. Bailed up in QLD during the Covid-Pandemic, they brainstormed the notion of sustainability measures in energy saving, water use, and landfill that’s generated from games / sport. Now in its third year, Footy For Climate (Footy4Climate) supports AFL players to be climate leaders, safeguarding communities and grassroots footy from the impacts of climate change and supporting the transition of the AFL industry towards a sustainable future.

Lots of travel means lots of Carbon Emissions. Footy4Climate has partnered with Go Neutral in a #footy4climate campaign to help AFL Players offset their emissions – covering flights, ground transport and our personal cars.

In the early days, spurred on by Emma Pocock, who launched FrontRunners Athletes – an organisation working with athletes to support and empower them to be climate leaders within sport – Em was their guiding light.

FrontRunners works to protect the future of sport, the future of all of us. We know climate change is already impacting sport: from extreme heat to bushfire smoke, drought and flooding, it’s striking at the heart of the games we love. But with millions of passionate fans and followers, athletes, clubs, leagues and tournaments have the power to change the game. FrontRunners helps sport go from sideline to centre court on climate action.
