Secretary-General of ASEAN Dr. Kao Kim Hourn attended “A Nature’s Symphony” with Ambassador of India to ASEAN Jayant N. Khobragade, held at ARTOTEL Jakarta. The dinner provided an opportunity for both sides to discuss enhancing the ASEAN-India Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. They exchanged views on various topics, including cultural and environmental initiatives

Afghan Star TV Music Competition ended after fifteen seasons in 2021, once the Taliban regained power and banned music. The TV show premiered in 2005, four years after the fall of the Taliban, which had outlawed singing in 1996. It was one of the most-watched shows in Afghanistan – equivalent to American Idol – and a significant cultural diplomacy success reintroducing Afghan music, providing a platform for women and minorities, and fostering national unity through its meritocratic system.
Sing Egyptian Women, Sing: Launched in November 2011, it was an American Idol-inspired contest in Egypt, organized by the U.S. Embassy to empowered Egyptian women to showcase their talents. The preliminary regulations did not set any limits on genre or singing language, nor age restriction. The only restriction that the song should be accompanied by one instrument only. The final event took place on April 5, 2012, on the rooftop of a luxury Cairo hotel.
Japan’s Cherry Blossom Festivals: Japan has gifted cherry blossom trees to various countries, including the United States, as symbols of friendship and goodwill. These festivals celebrate Japanese culture and strengthen international ties.
China’s Confucius Institutes: These institutes promote Chinese language and culture worldwide, fostering educational exchanges and cultural understanding.

Singapore International Festival of Arts (SIFA): This annual festival features a diverse range of performances, including theater, dance, and music, from both local and international artists. It serves as a platform for cultural exchange and collaboration.
Indonesia-Australia Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (IA-CEPA): Beyond economic ties, this agreement includes cultural exchange programs that promote mutual understanding and collaboration in arts and culture.
Philippines-Australia Friendship Day: Celebrated annually, this event includes cultural performances, exhibitions, and activities that highlight the strong cultural and historical ties between the Philippines and Australia.
