INAUGURAL AUSTRALIA CLEANTECH SHOWCASE EVENT Round Up! A Big Success!

The Australian National Cleantech Roadmap project has been announced which forms a national cleantech network to catalyse the work being done across the country to help grow and develop Australia’s clean economy.

On 30 April, the inaugural annual event kicked off  at the Fishermans Bend FB IDEAs precinct with over 300 attendees – 32 speakers on various panel discussions pertinent to clean tech investment and challenges – and over 30 exhibitors from start-ups to scale-ups.  A huge congratualtions to the organisational committee headed up by Daniel Lancefield, VCC Manager, and Nigel Murphy VVC Chair, with the support from the City of Melbourne, Melbourne Climate Network, Fishermans’ Bend FB IDEAs, Earth Systems, and Circular Economy Victoria.

The keynote speaker, Hon. Simon Molesworth AO KC, gave an empassionate and engaging speech with his key message resonating to all CleanTech climate conscious visionaries – “keep talking to new and varied audiences Climate is a reality that should be openly discussed, debated, and explored”. He provided plenty of inspiration to make sure that cleantech gets the recognition it so rightly needs, to succeed in a world of soothsayers / climate deniers. His  intersting and applicable analogy of  the UK  “Red Flag Act”  of 1865, whereby it was mandated that responsible man would walk  aproximately 3 meters in front of a self-propelled auto-vehicle carrying a red flag, to let the public know of possible impending catastophe should they walk out unexpectantly – rings true today. Many Red Flags today from Climate deniers hinders progress, albeit at a snails pace, and disprportinate to the speed and urgency that we should be moving to abate climate change.

VCC will be holding the Cleantech Showcase again next year, with dates to be announced soon.
